Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria has approved the refund of over 148 Billion Naira spent by five states government on the construction or repairs of federal roads.
The Federal Government, via a memo presented by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, at the third virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari inside the Council Chambers of the State House, listed the benefitting states as Rivers, Cross River, Ondo, Osun, and Bayelsa State.
Fashola’s memo further reads that the total sum FG will reimburse to the five states is N148,141,987,161.25.
The memo also outlined the sum FG will reimburse each of the stated states as Cross River N18,394,737,608.85, Ondo N7,822,147,577.08, Osun N2,468,938,876.78, Bayelsa N38,040,564,783.40 and Rivers N78,953,067,518.29.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who briefed State House Correspondents after the FEC meeting on behalf of Fashola, said Council equally warned that there will be no reimbursement in the future, should any state government venture into such projects without seeking federal government’s approval.
